EPL: Delap completes £50m move to Nottingham Forest

Liam Delap has signed a club-record £50 million transfer from Chelsea to Nottingham Forest, committing to a five-year contract at the City Ground. The 23-year-old striker will be joining Forest after just one season with Chelsea, where he managed to score only one Premier League goal. Delap is optimistic that this move will reignite his career and allow him to recapture the form he demonstrated during his standout season with Ipswich in 2024-25.

That campaign saw him net 12 league goals despite Ipswich's struggles, finishing with just four wins and eventually being relegated. His performances caught the eye of Chelsea, who signed him for around £30 million. Following his departure from Chelsea, Forest reportedly profited £20 million from the sale, which represents a significant investment in the young talent.

Delap's physical strength, pace, and ability to win possession were key factors in his effectiveness at Ipswich, where he recorded a Premier League record of 26 shot-ending carries during the 2024-25 season. Now at Forest, Delap will be under the guidance of manager Oliver Glasner, whom he believes can aid his continued development.
