El hedge Citadel aflora el 0,51% de Unicaja y rompe la tregua en banca

Citadel Advisors Europe has recently taken a short position on Unicaja, holding 0.51% of its capital. This is the first time the large hedge fund has been seen in the Spanish bank, which is leading the sector in the stock market this year. Unicaja's share price rose 28.95% by the end of last trading day, reaching 3.58 euros per share, surpassing the median analyst target by 14.6% at 3.05 euros.

The bank is the only Spanish bank with significant short positions above 0.5%, a level at which bearish bets are not disclosed by the stock supervisor. Throughout the year, hedge funds have liquidated all significant positions in Banco Sabadell and Bankinter, a move that began before the start of the earnings season and continued immediately after.
