This year's three-day meeting is led by US Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh, who will speak on Friday about economic issues in the face of high inflation and a recently downsized US labor market. Warsh plans to deliver a more concise message and communicate fewer views on monetary policy compared to his predecessors.

Investors are expected to pay close attention and try to glean clues about the September interest rate decision from his speech. Meanwhile, the number of initial jobless claims in the US has dropped to 203,000, below economists' expectations. The labor market remains strong, despite a weak July jobs report. Inflation, however, remains elevated.
