Comic Con India to make Andhra Pradesh debut in Vizag

The Andhra Pradesh government has implemented a new three-tier system to expedite building clearances and streamline the process of issuing Occupancy Certificates, according to Principal Secretary S. Suresh Kumar. The reform aims to cut down on procedural delays, improve coordination, and enhance accountability without reducing the existing level of regulation.

The previous system involved multiple tiers of Town Planning officials, depending on the site's size, which often caused delays in inspections and certificate issuance. The new framework reduces the process to three levels, with the Level-3 officer as the final approving authority. This structure applies to six categories of buildings, from small plots up to 100 square meters to larger sites over 4,000 square meters, but excludes high-rise buildings.

The Ward Planning and Regulatory Secretary will oversee all categories at Level-1, while the seniority of Level-2 and Level-3 officers varies based on the site size. The system will also be applied uniformly to Occupancy Certificate processing. If the designated cadre officer is unavailable, the next senior officer will have the necessary powers.

The government anticipates that this streamlined approach will minimize unnecessary paperwork, ensure timely accountability, and speed up inspections and certificate processes across all Urban Local Bodies and Urban Development Authorities.
