Champions League draw: Real Madrid-Arsenal, PSG-Manchester City, Bayern Munich-Manchester United among League Phase fixtures

The UEFA Champions League tournament draw for the 2026-27 season took place in Monaco on Thursday. The competition will begin on September 8, with 36 teams competing to advance to the knockout stages. Each team will play eight matches during the League Phase, consisting of four home and four away matches against eight different opponents.

Real Madrid is set to face Premier League champions Arsenal in London, while Manchester City will meet Paris Saint-Germain at the Etihad Stadium. Inter Milan will host Liverpool, while Barcelona will travel to meet Paris Saint-Germain. Other notable matchups include Inter Milan against Liverpool, Barcelona versus Paris Saint-Germain, Atlético Madrid facing Bayern Munich and Manchester United, and Bayern Munich playing Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Arsenal will also take on Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena. The full League Phase schedule will be announced by UEFA on August 29. Following the completion of the League Phase, teams ranked 25 to 36 will be eliminated, while teams in positions 9 through 24 will participate in a two-legged knockout playoff beginning in February.

The top eight teams will automatically advance to the Round of 16 in March. Estadio Metropolitano in Madrid will host the final on June 5, 2027. This season, PSG is the reigning champion, having defeated Arsenal in the previous final following a penalty shootout. Real Madrid is the only team to have won three consecutive titles in the Champions League era, which ended in 2018.

Four new teams will compete this season: Como from Italy, LASK from Austria, Sabah from Azerbaijan, and Viking from Norway. The 36 teams participating in this season's Champions League include teams from Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Czechia, England, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Türkiye, and Ukraine.
