Brütal Legend is available free in honor of Tim Curry

Tim Curry, the 80-year-old actor, has passed away, leaving an enduring legacy in film, television, and video games. Curry lent his voice to the villainous Doviculus in Double Fine's heavy metal game Brütal Legend. To honor Curry's passing, the game is being made available for free on itch.io for 666 minutes, a time equivalent to nearly nine hours.

Doviculus, the Emperor of the Tainted Coil, was originally to be voiced by the late Ronnie James Dio but Curry's voice was chosen for his perfect fit. Double Fine's creative lead, Tim Schafer, praised Curry's voice, noting it was perfect for Doviculus, who could scream in pain or squeal with delight when hit with an ax. This isn't the first time Double Fine has honored a guest with a free game release - they previously did so in Curry's honor last year on the game's 666th anniversary.
