Brazil's Dos Santos, American Russell race to world hurdles records in Zurich

Zurich witnessed a night of record-breaking performances in the Diamond League event on Thursday, August 27. Legendary Brazilian hurdler Alison dos Santos shattered the men's 400m hurdles world record with a time of 45.80 seconds, surpassing the previous mark of 45.94 set by Karsten Warholm at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. With Warholm finishing fourth in 46.69 seconds, Warholm personally congratulated dos Santos, praising his brilliance and acknowledging that only he could improve his own performance.

American star Masai Russell solidified her status as a formidable athlete by shattering the women's 100m hurdles world record with a time of 12.09 seconds, eclipsing Nigeria's Tobi Amusan's previous record of 12.12 seconds. Russell's record run came after a dominant performance, with the crowd and energy at the event propelling her to new heights.
