Despite having a stellar career in the NFL, Belichick expressed his contentment at North Carolina, highlighting his excitement for the future of the program. Belichick ranks third among NFL head coaches in terms of wins, trailing only Don Shula and George Halas.

He boasts eight Super Bowl titles: two as the New York Giants' defensive coordinator and six as the New England Patriots' head coach. Belichick assumed leadership of the Tar Heels' program prior to the 2025 season, leading them to a 4-8 record in his inaugural year.
