Bescom to seek one-month extension to complete Gruha Jyothi survey

The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (Bescom) plans to request a one-month extension to finish the Gruha Jyothi door-to-door survey. As of August 27, 68.90% of households in Karnataka have been verified by Bescom officials. The company's goal was to complete the survey before the August 31 deadline to ensure a smooth and efficient process.

Despite some challenges, such as locked houses and document delays, Bescom remains confident in completing the survey within the next month. The delay in survey completion has also led to complaints from residents about slow servers when meter readers arrived at their doorsteps. Bescom has launched a fully digital name-change facility for electricity connections, aiming to be the first power distribution utility in India to fully digitize the ownership transfer process.
