Attempted goldsmith robbery in Klang ends with zero losses

An attempted robbery at a goldsmith shop in Klang on August 20 resulted in no physical harm or losses, according to Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar. The investigation is ongoing to identify the suspects involved. Public assistance has provided several positive leads, though details are being withheld to avoid disrupting the ongoing probe.

Shazeli stated that the incident seems to have been meticulously planned, with the suspects patiently waiting for an opportune moment to execute the crime. South Klang deputy police chief Superintendent Kamalariffin Aman Shah revealed that the case is being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code, which prescribes penalties including a maximum of 20 years imprisonment, a fine, or whipping for voluntarily causing hurt during a gang robbery attempt.

Additionally, the crime is being looked into under Section 4 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971, which mandates life imprisonment and at least six strokes of the rotan for displaying a firearm during an attempted robbery. An earlier video captured three masked men attempting to break the display glass of a goldsmith shop on Jalan Tengku Kelana using hammers and what appeared to be a pistol.

However, their efforts were thwarted when the security alarm was activated, prompting the trio to flee towards another suspect on a motorcycle. All four evaded capture.
