Asunafo North MCE threatens legal action over ‘Ahafo Region creation is useless’ claim

Joseph Akparibo, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asunafo North in the Ahafo Region, has threatened legal action against two New Patriotic Party (NPP) communicators who made the claim that "Ahafo Region Creation Is Useless." During a press conference at Goaso, the MCE stated that the two communicators have five working days to either retract the accusation or face legal consequences.

He emphasized that he never claimed that the creation of the region is useless and of no benefits, but rather expressed that the previous government's decision not to centralize all regional administration offices in Goaso, the regional capital, had not benefited the area. The false statements by Alfred Asiedu and Kobby Nimako Mensah have, in some ways, damaged the MCE's reputation, requiring an unqualified apology and retraction.

Meanwhile, the NDC Organiser for Asunafo North, Mohammed Bawa, expressed concern over Nana Otuo Acheampong, a destooled chief, who falsely claimed to represent the Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs at the NPP presser. He called for the regional house of chiefs to reprimand him, as his actions are unacceptable and punishable. NDC Communication Officer Stephen Asante noted that there is no mention of the MCE stating that the creation of the Ahafo Region is useless in the radio interview, urging the two communicators to apologize and retract their statements urgently.
