5 Comedic Actors Who Brought The Drama To Law & Order: SVU

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (SVU) is renowned for its serious, thought-provoking content. However, the show has also featured several comedic actors who brought a touch of drama to the series. Kaley Sellers, only 18 years old at the time, was kidnapped and raped in Season 6's "Pure." She and her mother were initially told she was kidnapped, but a psychic named Sebastian Ballentine (played by Martin Short) claimed to have a vision of her location.

Initially dismissed, Ballentine's vision proved crucial in solving the case. Short's performance, described as hyperactive, stood out, making Ballentine a memorable character. Despite not being nominated for an Emmy, Short's role led to future dramatic roles. Jerry Lewis appeared on SVU due to a friendship with Richard Belzer. In "Uncle," Lewis played Detective John Munch's uncle, Andrew, who initially seemed like a homeless man when picked up by Stabler and Dani Beck.

Bob Saget made an appearance in Season 8's "Choreographed." He played the inventor husband of model Danielle Masoner, whose death the investigation aimed to solve. Saget's straight-faced delivery added depth to the episode, leading to his casting in another SVU episode. Lastly, Robin Williams, the highest-profile guest star to date, appeared in the 200th episode, "Authority."

Williams played Merritt Rook, an anti-authoritarian who masquerades as a police detective to manipulate evidence and orchestrate chaos.
