4 citizens arrested for hunting 15 wild animals at King Salman Royal Reserve

In Riyadh, four individuals were arrested by Special Forces for Environmental Security on King Salman Royal Reserve grounds for hunting 15 wild animals without the appropriate license, according to officials. The patrol team discovered two air rifles and 15 hunted wild animals among the suspects, who subsequently faced legal proceedings and were referred to the relevant authorities, as confirmed by the Special Forces.

The Environmental Security team highlighted the significance of adhering to environmental laws and their own bylaws, which strictly prohibit hunting wildlife within the reserve, a statement repeated in their official release. Penalties for these violations are outlined in the document: hunting without a license incurs a fine of SR10,000, while hunting in prohibited areas carries a SR5,000 fine. Additionally, hunting the common warbler without a license also results in a SR5,000 fine.

The Special Forces called upon the public to report any instances of environmental or wildlife abuse by dialing 911 in Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, and 999 and 996 in the rest of the Kingdom. They assured the public that all reports would be handled with utmost confidentiality, and the reporter would assume no responsibility for the outcome of such reports, as outlined in the official announcement.
