3 new to Netflix thriller movies to watch this week — including a new crime mystery with Robert De Niro and Michael Keaton (Aug. 27-Sept. 2)

This week, Netflix offers three thrilling movies that are sure to captivate audiences. One of these, "The Whisper Man," is a new crime mystery adaptation of Alex North's novel, starring Robert De Niro, Michelle Monaghan, Adam Scott, and Michael Keaton. The story follows Tom Kennedy (Scott), a widowed crime writer whose young son is abducted, leading him to turn to his estranged father, a retired police detective, for help.

As Tom investigates, he discovers a connection to a decade-old serial killer known as the Whisper Man, setting the stage for a race against time to save his son.

Another thriller available on Netflix is "Greta" from 2018. While it may have some B-movie charms and corny dialogue, the film is undeniably fun and fully commits to its chaotic premise. Frances (Chloë Grace Moretz), a young waitress in New York City, finds a lost handbag and decides to return it to its owner, a lonely French piano teacher named Greta (Isabelle Huppert). As their friendship blossoms, Greta becomes increasingly obsessive, leading to chilling consequences for Frances.

Finally, "Ready or Not" from 2019 brings back the intense horror-thriller with a return of Samara Weaving, now set to join Marvel’s "X-Men" reboot. Weaving plays Grace, a newlywed who endures a horrific wedding night when her in-laws ask her to play a deadly game of hide-and-seek. Armed with various weapons, the Le Domas clan hunts Grace down, forcing her to survive until dawn. With dark comedy and buckets of fake blood, "Ready or Not" is a thrilling ride from start to finish.
