(2nd LD) Lee orders mobilization of all resources to rescue S. Koreans affected by Nepal flooding

President Lee Jae Myung has ordered the mobilization of all available South Korean resources to rescue citizens affected by devastating floods in Nepal, following a day of catastrophic flooding that has claimed over 160 lives and left hundreds missing. The order came during an emergency meeting, as nine South Korean nationals, all construction workers for a hydroelectric power plant in Nepal, remain missing.

Ten others have been stranded. Lee emphasized the need for full mobilization of diplomatic channels, manpower, and resources during the emergency meeting. The government has dispatched an emergency response team to Nepal to aid in the search for the nationals. The president instructed officials to check for any other affected South Koreans and ensure the safety of South Koreans in the affected areas.

Lee also expressed condolences to the Nepalese government and people, and directed officials to review South Korea's assistance to Nepal in dealing with the disaster and rebuilding efforts.
