[Interview] Kwak No-jung “Memory shortage until end of 2030”…Leaving the door open for additional US investment

President Jae-myung took the initiative on the 28th to "jointly create the world's best policy for the youth generation" with government agencies and public institutions. During the '2027 Youth Budget Unboxing' event held at the Blue House, the President stated that it's time for everyone to "reflect and make changes" to ensure that government policies truly stem from the needs of youth, rather than being designed based on convenience for suppliers or the government.

The President emphasized the need to approach each policy with the mindset of "my son, my daughter," and to carefully consider all aspects before making decisions. He expressed deep concern over the current challenges faced by the youth, such as difficulty finding employment, securing housing, and planning for their own lives. The President acknowledged the additional responsibility that comes with being in a position of power, stating that creating a society where all generations can strive for a better future is the government's ultimate duty.

The event also provided a platform for various departments to directly explain their proposed youth budget and projects to the youth, with department heads and undersecretaries leading the discussions. This approach aimed to bridge the distance between the government and the youth. To strengthen the 'Bestselling Youth Policies', the President urged young civil servants to play a crucial role in delivering effective policies.

The move of presenting youth-related budget and projects separately before the overall budget announcement was considered the first of its kind by the government, due to the high criticism of the government and ruling party among the youth. Recent Gallup Korea poll conducted on 25-27 showed that President Jae-myung's job performance was positively evaluated by 42% of the respondents, with the highest positive ratings among those aged 30 (35%).
