2027: Tinubu took money from Nigerians, gave it to govs – Melaye alleges

Former lawmaker Dino Melaye has accused President Bola Tinubu of allegedly stealing money from Nigerians and giving it to state governors, in a new allegation during the ongoing discussion on the removal of fuel subsidy. Melaye's comments come in response to Tinubu's administration's decision to terminate the subsidy. According to the lawmaker, the governors who are benefiting from the subsidy removal cannot ensure Tinubu's re-election in 2027.

He stated, "You took money away from Nigerians in the name of subsidy removal and gave it to the governors in return for their votes and support." As the election approaches, Melaye pointed out that the governors have failed to deliver on their promises, prompting Tinubu to seek the people from whom he had stolen. Meanwhile, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has vowed to restore the subsidy if elected as president in 2027.
