11 arrested over Shah Alam gang turf war that left one dead

Police in Shah Alam have arrested 11 individuals believed to be members of two secret societies following a gang turf war that resulted in one man's death on August 25. Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar announced that five suspects were remanded for seven days, while the remaining six will be brought to court for a remand application.

Preliminary investigations suggest the incident was linked to a territorial dispute between the two groups in Shah Alam. However, the motive is still under investigation. All suspects are in their 20s and 30s, and statements from several witnesses have been obtained to aid the investigation. The police believe these groups are relatively new.

They are still identifying the leaders of these groups and tracking down any remaining individuals involved in the secret societies. In addition to the deceased, several others were injured, with three still receiving treatment in the hospital. The incident had been reported by a member of the public through a dashcam recording, which showed a group of men rushing from vehicles to attack a man lying on the road.

The incident was so severe that it went viral online. The police have opened an investigation under the Penal Code, which carries a potential sentence of 30 to 40 years in prison and at least 12 strokes of the rotan upon conviction.
