Bhopal Rural Cyber Cell has arrested two individuals from Delhi and Gurugram in connection with a ₹1.89 lakh credit card fraud. The suspects, Mahesh Gupta and Bunty Mahor, were apprehended on Wednesday night by a joint team of Bairasia police and the Bhopal Rural Cyber Cell. The fraudulent call was allegedly made by Mahesh, while the One-Time Password (OTP) was received by Bunty's phone.
The fraudster had posed as a bank official to deceive a gold loan manager from Narela Bazar bank branch, duping him of Rs 1,89,296.30 through credit card transactions. During the investigation, it was discovered that Rs 1.01 lakh of the fraud amount was utilized to purchase gold coins, which were later delivered to a residential address in Gurugram.
Police are currently searching for the alleged mastermind, Rahul, and his aide, Samy, who remain at large. Additional suspects are being examined based on other transactions. Mobile phones and Aadhaar cards have been seized from the arrested individuals.
