Why is Techiman-Krobo Nursing Training principal still at post? – Youth Association questions

The General Secretary of the Techiman-Krobo Youth Association, Gyan Isaac Kentinka, has expressed concern over the continued employment of the principal of the Techiman-Krobo Nursing and Midwifery Training College, Hellen Dwamena. The college was closed following protests from students and allegations of misconduct against the principal.

Kentinka questioned the decision to keep Dwamena in her position, especially in light of the ongoing investigation, stating that the community formally raised their concerns and petitioned the relevant authorities. The Health Minister had appointed a committee to look into the matter, and Kentinka provided testimony before this committee.

However, he noted that Dwamena continues to report to work despite the ongoing investigation. Kentinka also alleged that Dwamena recently instructed teachers to return to the school to upload students' results, but the teachers declined due to outstanding allowances. The Youth Association demanded that Dwamena step aside while the investigation was ongoing, citing her refusal to pay the teachers' wages and the potential impact on public trust.

Kentinka criticized the decision to close the college, arguing that he had raised similar concerns at the investigative committee. He emphasized the need for transparency and action based on the investigation's findings, warning that the current situation could affect final-year students' practical exams.
