Who is Dev Chaudhary? DPL batter’s unusual style goes viral

Dev Chaudhary, a 22-year-old batter from New Delhi Tigers, has garnered attention due to his unconventional batting and fielding techniques in the Delhi Premier League (DPL). This has led to social-media speculation about his selection for the New Delhi Tigers, with claims of him not being part of the DPL 2026 auction or being picked for a low fee of Rs100,000.

However, there is limited publicly available information about Chaudhary's cricketing career before the DPL, with some reports suggesting a link to a DDCA Under-19 preliminary trial document from 2021. Chaudhary made his DPL debut as an opener against South Delhi Superstarz but was dismissed for a two-ball duck. His second opportunity came against West Delhi Lions on August 19, where he scored 16 runs off 24 balls.

Despite his modest returns, Chaudhary maintains that his batting technique is his own and has always worked for him. There is currently no confirmed evidence of any selection fraud involving Chaudhary, and neither the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) nor the New Delhi Tigers have confirmed any wrongdoing.
