When Aruna Irani ‘married a married man’ Kuku Kohli: ‘Wives always blame the other woman’

Kuku Kohli, the celebrated filmmaker, passed away at the age of 77 following a heart attack. He was survived by his second wife, veteran actress Aruna Irani, and two daughters from his previous marriage with Rita Kohli. Aruna and Kuku had a tumultuous relationship, as she had previously stated in an interview with Zoom. Despite their initial dislike for each other, they eventually became friends and eventually fell in love.

However, their relationship faced a significant hurdle - Kuku was already married to Rita, who had two daughters, Pooja and Karishma. This led Aruna to keep their marriage a secret. While the industry and journalists were aware of their union, Aruna chose not to discuss it publicly to avoid hurting anyone. She argued that her affair with Kohli was not meant to harm anyone or take away from the happiness of others.

Aruna also defended her decision by suggesting that the first wife always blames the other woman in a relationship. She claimed that her husband was responsible for his actions and that she should hold him accountable. She stated, "I did not have an affair to destroy someone's family." After Rita's passing in 2022, Aruna began discussing her marriage with Kuku openly.

They decided that they would never have children of their own, as Aruna had already been born to her father's second wife. This decision aimed to prevent her child from experiencing the same trauma.
