Vice President Opoku-Agyemang meets Ghanaian community in Rwanda, shares updates on reset agenda

Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang met with members of the Ghanaian community in Kigali, Rwanda, to discuss their experiences abroad and the progress made in Ghana. The meeting took place during the inaugural Africa Mindset Reset Forum. The Vice President encouraged Ghanaians living abroad to register with Ghana’s diplomatic missions to maintain connections and gain support when needed.

She shared updates on the government’s Reset Agenda, highlighting achievements in stabilizing the economy and emphasizing responsible resource management. Prof. Opoku-Agyemang explained that the government’s approach involves building from the ground up, ensuring development reaches communities. Major investments in road infrastructure are being made, as good roads support multiple aspects of development.

Decentralisation is being deepened, with more resources directed to local development through the District Assemblies Common Fund, with guidelines in place to ensure the funds result in tangible improvements. Regarding healthcare, the government’s main goal remains universal healthcare. Measures such as Free Primary Healthcare aim to enhance preventive care and community-level access, while the Ghana Medical Trust Fund supports treatment for expensive non-communicable diseases.

The Government is also enhancing secondary schooling through dedicated funding while addressing challenges affecting performance. Prof. Opoku-Agyemang thanked the Ghanaian community for their warm reception and good reputation in Rwanda, urging them to continue supporting one another and representing the country well.
