Veterinary recruitment probe: Karnataka Police summon suspended PSC chief

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Karnataka Police issued a summons on Wednesday to Shivashankarappa S Sahukar, the suspended chairman of the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC), in connection with its ongoing investigation into alleged fraud in the recruitment of 400 veterinary officers. Sahukar was summoned to appear before the CID on August 27.

The summons follows Karnataka Governor Thawarchand Gehlot's order suspending Sahukar for a second time due to corruption allegations. Investigators are awaiting forensic analysis of examination papers, including 758 OMR sheets from the veterinarians' exam. The CID is also conducting searches at 21 locations across Karnataka and Gujarat related to the alleged scam, including the KPSC headquarters, Sahukar's residence, Edutest Solutions Pvt.

Ltd., and residences of several selected candidates. The investigation alleges middlemen offered bribes to candidates in exchange for securing their selection, with the complainant providing audio recordings of these encounters to law enforcement.
