Valenciaport maintains momentum in rail-port traffic

Valenciaport's traffic saw a 9.84% decrease in July compared to the previous year, with 459,517 TEUs handled, slightly below the record set in July 2025 of 509,685 TEUs. Despite the overall decline, import trade continued to outpace export activity. From January to July, imports grew by 10.33%, while exports declined by 1.34%. In the first seven months of the year, Valenciaport's terminals processed a total of 3,279,119 containers, marking a 1.34% decrease year-on-year.

However, the cumulative volume handled remains robust at 5,618,144 containers over the past year, representing a modest 0.16% growth. China remains the leading international market for Valenciaport, handling 546,966 TEUs, which increased by 18.39% year-on-year. Within this volume, 5,941,770 tonnes were transported, reflecting a 19.49% increase.

Following China, the United States accounted for 193,179 TEUs, down 16.22%; Algeria saw a 5.27% decline with 177,776 TEUs; and Türkiye experienced a 23.98% drop to 112,110 TEUs. Other significant markets include Italy, with 61,149 TEUs, declining by 19.73%, and Brazil showing positive growth with 83,124 TEUs, up 16.49%. In terms of cargo weight, Italy continues to be the second-largest market, handling 3.66 million tonnes, a 13.20% decrease, while the United States follows with 3.35 million tonnes, down 7.09%.

Notably, trade volumes with Algeria and Türkiye are on the rise, growing by 15.77% and 24.94%, respectively. Vehicle traffic also saw a significant boost, with 48,405 vehicles handled in July, a 19.09% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Since the beginning of the year, Valenciaport's terminals have managed 325,335 vehicles, a 10.68% rise year-on-year.

As of July 31, rail and rail-port traffic reached 2,303,316 tonnes, marking a 19.31% increase compared to the same period last year, and 172,328 TEUs, representing a 17.97% year-on-year growth.
