Ukraine, US, And Europe Have Developed New Ceasefire Plan With Buffer Zone — The Times

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed that Ukraine, the United States, and Europe have collaborated on a new ceasefire plan aimed at ending the conflict in Ukraine, despite Russia's promise to press on until Kyiv surrenders. As reported by The Times, Ukrainian officials have been working on the plan alongside envoys of President Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner, alongside European diplomats.

The proposed arrangement would entail a ceasefire, a mutual withdrawal of troops from the front line, and the establishment of a buffer zone. The American contingent reportedly has additional suggestions, which they intend to disclose at an opportune moment. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy mentioned that he is eagerly awaiting these ideas.

On Monday, a Vatican envoy arrived in Russia, leading to speculation that he may be tasked with delivering the proposed solutions. Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, the Vatican's Secretary for Relations with States, was scheduled to converse with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Tuesday. However, Russia has historically dismissed comparable proposals, making the prospects for a resolution seem limited.

Zelenskyy also highlighted that there exists widespread disapproval of the war within Russia. Many Russians desire the cessation of hostilities, according to the Levada Center, a respected polling organization in Russia, which indicates that two-thirds of respondents express a desire to engage in peace negotiations.
