Tragedy in Benue as four siblings die after consuming soft drink from relative

A heart-wrenching tragedy has unfolded in the Amufu community of Edumoga, Okpokwu Local Government Area in Benue State, leaving four siblings dead after they allegedly consumed a soft drink given by their uncle. The four children, aged between 12 and three, succumbed to their illness last week. The incident came to light through a lengthy video clip shared by popular Idoma activist Meddy Olotu on his Facebook page.

In the video, the father of the deceased children recounted how the siblings fell ill after sharing a bottle of soft drink reportedly given by a relative named Anthony Adam. The grieving father had not been in contact with Adam and was unaware of his actions. Two to three days after consuming the soft drink, the children began to show signs of illness.

Despite multiple visits to the hospital, three of the siblings passed away by the afternoon of the following day, leaving only the father alive, who attributed his survival to not being in a position to end his own life. Adam and his son reportedly denied any involvement in the tragic incident, while community youths were seen taking Adam away.

However, an attempt by the DAILY POST to contact the Benue State Police Command for further comments was unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
