Tottenham set to sign another Man City star after Omar Marmoush deal agreed

Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of signing Mohamed Omar Marmoush, a forward from Manchester City, on a season-long loan deal with the option to purchase the player for £60 million next year. The Egyptian international is expected to undergo a medical at the London club before finalizing the deal. This move marks Tottenham's second signing from City this summer, following the arrival of Brazil winger Savio for an initial £75 million.

The transfer is significant for City, as it allows them to recoup the £59 million they paid for Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025. The 27-year-old scored 16 goals in 62 games for City, although he was often a backup to Erling Haaland. Marmoush did not play in City's recent Premier League win over Bournemouth and was an unused substitute in the Community Shield match.

The transfer comes after a tumultuous summer at City, with several key players departing, including Rodri, Bernardo Silva, John Stones, Tijjani Reijnders, Nathan Ake, and James Trafford. Nico Gonzalez may also leave before the transfer deadline to join Newcastle. Tottenham hopes that Savio and Marmoush's signings will help the team turn their fortunes around after a poor start to the season, which saw them finish 17th in the Premier League.

The north London club will face Championship side Charlton Athletic in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday before hosting Newcastle in their first home league match of the season on Saturday.
