Hulu is set to premiere the fifth season of "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives," which is scheduled for release in September. The season is being marked by a recent domestic violence incident involving Taylor Frankie Paul and her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen. This news led to the cancellation of her season of "The Bachelorette."

The fifth season of "Secret Lives" was originally planned to follow the events of Paul's experience on the dating show, but the production team paused filming due to the ongoing investigation. The trailer for the new season reveals that it will consist of only five episodes, as opposed to the usual ten.

In the trailer, Mayci Neeley expresses that there are still many unknown aspects of the situation to the public, stating that some things are like "Romeo and Juliet in the TikTok age." Jessi Draper also discusses the ongoing drama involving former spouses Miranda Hope and Chase McWhorter, as well as Jessi Draper's and Jordan Ngatikaura's separation. Micayla Matthews admits to reaching her breaking point, following her and her partner's separation at the end of Season 4 due to intimacy issues.

The season also marks the final appearance of breakout star Whitney Leavitt, who will be leaving the series to pursue her theater and film career. "Secret Lives" has already been renewed for 20 more episodes at Hulu, with plans for a seventh season. Production has begun on Season 6, with star Layla Taylor announcing the news on Hulu's "Get Real" podcast.
