‘The real deal’: Colorado commit Dewey Young ready to guide Kalamazoo Central

Kalamazoo Central offensive lineman Dewey Young, a 4-star recruit and the seventh-ranked player in the state, has chosen to attend Colorado over his other options, including Michigan State, Ohio State, and Georgia. Young, who is 6-foot-4 and weighs 325 pounds, has a strong family background in football, with both his father and brother playing in the NFL.

He grew up playing quarterback and baseball, but found his love for the offensive line during middle and high school. Young toured multiple schools and ultimately decided on Colorado due to the connection he felt with head coach Deon Sanders and the program's culture. The Colorado Buffaloes, with their recent national championship pedigree, were an attractive option, but it was the relationship with Sanders and a shared love for baseball that sealed the deal.

Despite the excitement of joining a high-profile program, Young remains focused on his time at Kalamazoo Central, where he helped lead the team to consecutive winning seasons. He plans to continue guiding the offense and making a positive impact as one of the school's leaders.
