Texas women's basketball: Longhorns add Australian guard Jayda Clark to roster

The Texas women's basketball program has added Australian guard Jayda Clark to its roster. Clark will be eligible to compete with the Longhorns during the 2026-27 season. Standing at six feet tall, Clark will bring a veteran presence to a team with five freshmen. At 21 years old, she has played professionally in Australia, scoring 36 points and making eight three-pointers in her last WNBL game.

Texas coach Vic Schaefer expressed excitement about adding Clark and her family to the program, praising her experience, scoring ability, and versatility as a player. The Longhorns are currently thin in their backcourt due to the graduation of Rori Harmon and the defection of Jordan Lee and Aaliyah Crump. However, junior Bryanna Preston is returning, and Clark, along with freshmen Addison Bjorn, Amalia Holguin and Lizzy Spaight, and Oklahoma transfer Zya Vann, will compete for playing time.

Clark expressed her enthusiasm about joining Texas, noting the success of the program, its elite coaching staff, and the presence of talented players. The team represents nations such as Canada, Ireland, Sweden, and Luxembourg, with players previously attending American institutions.
