Texans RT Braden Smith, DE Ali Gaye carted off the field during joint practice with the Panthers

On Wednesday, Houston Texans right tackle Braden Smith and reserve defensive end Ali Gaye were both carted off the field together during a joint practice with the Carolina Panthers. The reason for the injuries was not immediately disclosed. The incident happened on two practice fields almost at the same time, causing the practice to be halted.

Both players were initially treated on separate carts before being moved to one cart and taken to the locker room together. Smith recently inked a two-year contract worth $25 million as a free agent. Gaye, who entered the league as an undrafted player in 2023, has amassed nine tackles and a sack throughout his career. The Texans and Panthers face off in the preseason finale at Bank of America Stadium on Friday night.
