Terrifying videos capture Nepal floods fury: Huge waves come crashing, buildings, people vanish in seconds

Flash floods devastated Nepal on Wednesday, causing buildings to collapse and damaging markets and neighborhoods. At least 19 people lost their lives, with over 350 travelers reported missing, including 105 Indians. Terrifying videos captured the fury of the floods, showing massive waves crashing into establishments and people fleeing as the waves approached.

In Tibet, a mudslide disaster at Gyirong Port resulted in significant casualties and missing persons. The floods struck northern Nepal near the Tibet border, surging through the Bhote Koshi River this morning. Affected districts include Rasuwa, Gorkha, Chitwan, Dhading, and Nuwakot, located southwest of Kathmandu. Several villages, roads, and hydropower projects were destroyed, leaving hundreds of people missing.

Climate experts at the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development suggest an avalanche from a glacier likely caused the flash flood. The Bhotekoshi River initially flooded, causing waves to crash through villages and homes, ultimately washing away people. Authorities have warned residents to stay away from the Bhotekoshi, Trishuli, and Narayani rivers, urging vigilance in areas along the Trishuli River basin.

The Nepal Police and the US Embassy in Nepal have also issued similar advisories. The Nepal Tourism Board has issued a toll-free emergency number and hotline for assistance, urging the public to stay informed and vigilant. Bihar, neighboring Nepal, has been alerted about a potential surge in the Gandak River due to the flash floods.

Home Minister Amit Shah assured Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary that the government would provide all necessary aid in case of a possible flood.
