Telangana: 6 killed after private bus rams into stationary truck in Suryapet

A private bus collided with a stationary container truck in Suryapet district of Telangana on Wednesday morning, resulting in at least six fatalities and multiple injuries. The accident occurred near Dorakunta village, adjacent to the Hyderabad-Vijayawada national highway (NH-65). The bus, en route from Hyderabad to Vijayawada and Eluru, was carrying 42 passengers.

The impact was severe, causing six passengers to die instantly, while 20 others sustained serious injuries, four of whom are in critical condition, and 11 others suffered severe injuries. Local residents promptly notified the police, who initiated rescue and relief operations. Emergency teams and locals assisted in evacuating the injured to hospitals, with severely injured passengers being transported to the Kodad Government Hospital.

Traffic disruptions ensued on the affected route, and a case has been filed. The police are investigating the cause, determining whether negligence, over-speeding, or other factors played a role. The identity of the deceased is yet to be confirmed. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy expressed shock and grief, directing the Chief Secretary to ensure the injured receive optimal medical care and necessary support.
