Spurs closing in on Man City’s Marmoush after signing Savio

Tottenham Hotspur have secured a season-long loan deal with Manchester City for Egypt forward Omar Marmoush, with an intention to purchase the player for £60 million next year, according to British media on Wednesday. The move is set to be completed following a medical examination at Spurs. Marmoush is making waves as Tottenham's second signing from City, following the arrival of Brazil winger Savio on Tuesday, who signed for an initial fee of £75 million.

The club's overall spending in the summer transfer window now exceeds £300 million, with other signings including Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Jan Paul van Hecke, Andy Robertson, and Marcos Senesi. Despite the influx of talent, Spurs kicked off their Premier League campaign with a disappointing 3-0 loss to Brentford last weekend.

If Marmoush's £60 million transfer materializes, it will enable City to recoup the £59 million fee paid to acquire him from Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025. The 27-year-old netted 16 goals in 62 appearances for City but has primarily served as backup to Erling Haaland during his time at the Etihad. Marmoush was a bench warmer for Sunday's Premier League opener against Bournemouth, with his final appearance for the club occurring in the Community Shield one week prior.

City has experienced a significant exodus of players since Pep Guardiola's departure at the end of last season, with notable departures including Rodri, Bernardo Silva, John Stones, Tijjani Reijnders, Nathan Ake, and James Trafford.
