During the Guangzhou kickoff of his Presence concert tour, singer Julian Cheung surprised fans by having his 19-year-old son, Morton, join him on stage. This marked the father and son's first public performance together. Instead of spotlighting Morton as a special guest, Cheung kept the focus on the music, with Morton blending in as one of the backup guitarists.

The revelation sparked emotional reactions among the audience, with one fan noting that Julian likely cried while singing Toy Story after discovering his son was also on stage. The tender track, originally written for Morton, featured playful references to characters like Buzz Lightyear. Dressed in all black and sporting a neat buzz cut, Morton appeared composed during the performance in front of a large crowd, leading to praise for his stage presence and resemblance to Julian and his mother, actress Anita Yuen.

Morton's musical ambitions are well-known, having previously interned on the Chinese reality show Singer 2025. Despite his famous lineage, Anita, Julian's mother, insisted that her son would earn any role in the industry based on merit, as she had previously stated. However, Morton's exceptional performance on Saturday clearly earned him the gig.
