Mumbai: The Shiv Sena has unveiled 'Mission Gen Z', a program designed to grasp the desires, concerns and objectives of Generation Z, Generation Alpha and young individuals, while forging a direct link between the youth and governance. A Youth Public Representatives' Interaction Camp was held in Mumbai, uniting over 250 elected officials aged between 20 and 30 from across Maharashtra, both urban and rural.
Shiv Sena MP and Parliamentary Party leader Dr Shrikant Shinde facilitated the proceedings, emphasizing that young elected representatives can serve as vital liaisons between the party and the youth. He referred to them as the party's "brand ambassadors" and highlighted their direct engagement with the youth to convert their concerns into tangible policy changes.
Participants were organized into twenty groups, each consisting of 10 to 12 representatives, with individuals representing various regions to exchange insights between urban and rural Maharashtra. Discussions centered around the unique challenges faced by young people in different areas, such as Konkan, Vidarbha, Marathwada and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
The attendees brainstormed various proposals to better engage with the younger generation, including the establishment of sports complexes and playgrounds, enhancing libraries and study areas, offering career guidance and employment assistance, setting up skill development centers and job portals, and promoting youth festivals in colleges.
Additionally, they proposed measures like de-addiction programs, self-defense training for women, foreign language instruction in Panchayat Samiti schools and increased utilization of social media and emerging technologies to connect with young people.
Dr Shinde disclosed that the Shiv Sena would organize routine training sessions for young public representatives and facilitate direct communication with Gen Z and Gen Alpha. He also stressed the importance of ongoing dialogue with students and young people, acknowledging that the issues faced by different age groups and regions necessitate customized solutions. The conversation revolved around matters like employment, education, sports facilities, examination-related issues and skill development.
Minister of State Yogesh Kadam guided the training camp participants as well. Looking ahead, the Shiv Sena aims to hold another training and interaction camp following the initial meeting, with the goal of formulating a short-, medium- and long-term strategy to engage with the youth and prioritize youth-centric policies in governance and public policy.
