Shelton looks to make an impact at US Open after ‘roller coaster’ season

Ben Shelton heads into the U.S. Open with high expectations to bounce back from a season marred by inconsistent performances at major tournaments. The world number nine earned a confidence boost by successfully defending his Canadian Open title, where he didn't lose a set throughout. Despite reaching the Australian Open quarter-finals, Shelton failed to advance past the second round at the French Open and Wimbledon.

However, he remains optimistic about his game and his potential to make an impact at the U.S. Open, where the last American male to win the title was Andy Roddick in 2003. Roddick believes Shelton can challenge for the championship if top-ranked opponents like Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are not at their best.
