Saglemi: NPP’s private-sector model vindicated – Kojo Oppong Nkrumah

Former Housing Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah asserts that the recent developments at the Saglemi Affordable Housing Project validate the private-sector participation model adopted by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government. Mr Nkrumah, who spearheaded the revival of the project during the NPP's tenure, expressed satisfaction with the NDC government's decision to maintain the private-sector participation (PSP) arrangements.

He highlighted the phased approach to completing the project, with the President upholding the previously established benchmarks for housing units. Mr Oppong Nkrumah dismissed opposition to the private-sector involvement as primarily political, emphasizing that the model has demonstrated its ability to deliver public infrastructure without imposing undue financial burdens on the government.

The ongoing work at Saglemi represents a testament to the efficacy of private-sector participation in large-scale public projects, according to Mr Nkrumah, who expressed hope for its eventual completion and broader support for similar collaborations between government and private investors in future.
