Russian attacks kill 4, injure 95 across Ukraine as FPV drone targets rescuers in Kramatorsk in double-tap attack

Russian attacks killed at least four people and injured 95 others across Ukraine in the past day, local authorities reported on August 25-26. The State Emergency Service in Kramatorsk, Donetsk Oblast, said Russian forces launched a "double-tap" attack on rescue workers who were responding to a previous Russian strike on a nine-story residential building.

An FPV drone targeted an armored ambulance of the State Emergency Service, causing damage but no injuries to the rescuers. This marks the second instance this week of Russian troops attacking rescue personnel, according to the State Emergency Service. Despite the ongoing danger, emergency services continued their efforts to aid victims and recover from the aftermath of Russian strikes.

In Kramatorsk, 26 people were injured over the past day, while 37 high-rise buildings, three educational institutions, and one infrastructure facility suffered damage, reported regional governor Vadym Filashkin on August 26. Additionally, one person was killed and eight injured across Donetsk Oblast. Russian forces launched a total of 163 drones overnight on August 26, with 132 being downed by Ukrainian air defense across the nation, according to the Air Force.

In northern Chernihiv Oblast, Russian troops conducted 28 attacks, killing a 39-year-old woman and her four-year-old daughter with a drone and injuring 14 others. Southern Kherson Oblast saw one fatality and 12 injuries from Russian attacks, while northeastern Kharkiv Oblast reported 23 injuries, including two children. Zaporizhzhia Oblast witnessed nine injuries, while Dnipropetrovsk Oblast recorded six casualties.

Overall, July 2026 marked the deadliest month for Ukrainian civilians since March 2022, with 437 deaths and 2,610 injuries, a 30% increase from June's record.
