Rupert Grint will become Ron Weasley again — this time, on Broadway

Rupert Grint, the original Ron Weasley from the "Harry Potter" movies, will reprise his role on Broadway next year in "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child." Grint, who starred in all eight "Harry Potter" films from 2001 to 2011, will join the play at the Lyric Theatre from February 2 to May 30, 2027. The actor expressed excitement about returning to the stage, stating that it feels both familiar and new, especially as both he and Ron are fathers now.

This will be the second time a "Harry Potter" film cast member has joined the stage production, following Tom Felton's return as Draco Malfoy this year. The play picks up 19 years after the end of the final novel, with an adult Potter married to Ginny Weasley and their family facing new dangers. Ron runs his own joke shop, Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes.

Producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender expressed that Grint's return creates a powerful bridge between the original story and the themes of family and time in the new play.
