Rayer dakwa forum penjelasan RCI TH ‘sandiwara’ Umno

RSN Rayer, a member of Parliament from Jelutong, has accused the United Malays National Organization (Umno) of staging a "sandiwara" involving the Royal Malaysian Audit Committee (RCI) Tabung Haji (TH). The MP questioned whether the purpose of the forum was to protect those responsible from facing legal action. In a Facebook post, Rayer expressed concerns about the forum's impact on how political parties handle matters that should be handled according to the law and proper procedures.

He emphasized that RCI is not a political tool, but an institutional mechanism to determine facts, investigate responsibility, and establish evidence based on proof. Rayer warned that using political pressure or public campaigns to influence matters under executive, legislative, and judicial authority is inappropriate. He also stated that the issue is not just about Umno's stance on RCI TH, but whether the party can uphold the integrity of the institution, accountability, and public interest above party interests.

Furthermore, the process must be respected, particularly after the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim urged for a thorough examination of RCI's findings and those responsible to be held accountable. RCI had previously found TH hiding its true position for years, reporting a profit of RM3.4 billion in 2017 while it should have recorded a net loss of RM1.4 billion under proper accounting standards – a nearly RM4.8 billion discrepancy.

The audit committee also criticized the National Audit Department for failing to rigorously audit TH's financial statements between 2014 and 2017. However, during the forum, Madinah defended the National Audit Department's audit, arguing that the RM4.8 billion difference between the report and a PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) survey on TH's financial position cannot be dismissed as an audit failure.

Madinah further asserted that he and his team did not find evidence of corruption or embezzlement during their audit of TH.
