Qatar University plans Hayyakum event

Qatar University (QU) will host an event called Hayyakum 2026, starting August 31 and continuing until September 3. The purpose of this event is to welcome new and first-year students to university life and familiarize them with the services and resources they can access to aid their academic journey. In a recent statement, QU shared their goal of integrating these students into the university environment right from the start.

The program includes guided tours of the campus, interactive activities, and one-on-one meetings with representatives from various academic, administrative, and service units. QU encourages these students to attend and take advantage of all the programs and services offered. The university remains committed to supporting students and helping them build a comprehensive and enriching university experience.

Dr. Mohammed Diab, QU's Vice-President for Student Affairs, explained that the Hayyakum 2026 event is part of the university's efforts to enhance the non-academic student experience, as outlined in their 2023-30 strategic plan. He emphasized the importance of welcoming new students and preparing them to start their university life confidently and with awareness.

Dr. Diab highlighted that success at QU is not only academic, but also involves utilizing the various services, resources, and opportunities the university provides, as well as integrating and interacting with the university environment.

Dr. Diab stressed the Student Affairs Sector's determination to bring together all the services and units students need in one place, so they can learn about the support and guidance available, get their questions answered, and participate in interactive activities and campus tours that offer a more complete introduction to university life.
