It was reported last week that Harry and Meghan would be returning to the U.K. after six years in California, and they have no intention of resuming royal duties. The couple is expected to reside in the Cotswolds region, located approximately a 2-hour drive west of London. In January 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan announced their decision to step away from their roles as senior, working members of the royal family and to become financially independent. In 2024, Prince Harry lost a legal challenge against a government body's decision to reduce his security detail when he returned to the U.K. after stepping away from royal duties. A week prior to Harry's return, UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham stated that the decision regarding future security arrangements for the couple was a private matter for the Sussexes, adding that he and his family wished them well in their new endeavors.
