Preacher, NGO secretary claim trial to RM13.8m CBT and money laundering charges

A religious figure named Abdullah Abdol Razak appeared in a Malaysian court on August 26, 2026, to face 34 charges of criminal breach of trust (CBT) related to an alleged theft of over RM13.8 million from a non-governmental organisation. Abdol Razak, who served as the chairman of Pertubuhan Rezeki Infaq Malaysia, pleaded not guilty to the charges. The CBT offences are said to have occurred at a bank in Seremban between February 2023 and March 2026.

In addition to the CBT charges, Abdol Razak also faced 17 accusations of money laundering totaling RM1.55 million. The money laundering allegations are connected to the same bank location and time period, from May 2024 to February 2026. These charges fall under Section 4(1)(b) of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLA), which can result in a 15-year prison sentence and a substantial fine.

The NGO's secretary, Noor Sahira Abdullah, was also charged separately with abetting the organisation's chairman by allegedly assisting him in transferring funds via online banking. She also pleaded not guilty to all 34 counts against her. Noor Sahira, who is 30 years old, claimed trial in the same court.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Datuk Ahmad Akram Gharib informed the court that the offences are non-bailable, but offered bail at RM1 million with two sureties for Abdol Razak. Deputy Public Prosecutor Syairah Aqilah Khalil suggested a lower bail amount for Noor Sahira, proposing RM250,000 with two sureties. The court granted bail of RM700,000 for Abdol Razak, which includes unsecured bail and a condition that he surrender his passport and refrain from interfering with witnesses.

For Noor Sahira, the bail amount was set at RM200,000 with two sureties. Both cases were set to be mentioned again on September 28, 2026.
