Powerloom worker threw stones at Vande Bharat ‘for fun’: RPF

On Tuesday, a powerloom worker from Odisha named Pintoo Kumar attacked the Vande Bharat train carrying various VIPs including Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel. The 31-year-old migrant worker from Ganjam district in Odisha pelted stones at the train "for fun," according to an RPF official. Had it not been for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad train driver who immediately reported the incident to the authorities, Pintoo might have escaped without being caught.

Anandiben Patel was returning to Ahmedabad from her home state, where she was visiting as the chief guest for the inaugural Monsoon Festival, when the stone-throwing occurred. Pintoo was arrested and booked under sections 153 and 147 of the Railway Act, which deal with endangering passenger safety and trespassing on railway property, respectively. No injuries were reported in the incident, which took place near Utran Railway Station in Surat.
