Olympian James Feigen's Hall of Fame swimming career began in San Antonio

James Feigen, a native of San Antonio, began his swimming career in the city that would shape him into one of the most influential sports figures in the region. Raised in Harlingen and later moved to San Antonio by his parents, Feigen's athletic career took off due to the city's family-oriented atmosphere and strong sports culture.

Feigen excelled in high school at Churchill High School, where he set national records and won multiple UIL 5A state titles. His success continued at the University of Texas, where he became a three-time NCAA Champion and 24-time All-American, as well as the conference's Swimmer of the Year for four consecutive years. He made back-to-back Olympic appearances in 2012 and 2016, winning silver and gold medals.

Feigen credits San Antonio's swimming programs, coaching staff, and support staff for catapulting his career. The city also provided him with a strong foundation in mental discipline and focus. Although Feigen now resides in Austin and practices law, he remains connected to the swimming community and expresses his continued love for San Antonio, even sending supportive messages from his new home.
