NY mayor Mamdani makes a stink over RSS event, stirs up row among Indian diaspora

Singer Mary Millben has vehemently responded to critics opposing the upcoming Madison Square Garden (MSG) event featuring RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. She accused New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and his supporters of opposing the event solely due to their hostility towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Millben argued that these opponents, who subscribe to socialist ideology, fail to understand capitalism and that the MSG venue operates on capitalist principles. She offered advice to her critics, urging them to adopt capitalism and host their own rallies if they wish to oppose Modi's policies. Millben also expressed support for the event's theme of "Oneness" and called for meaningful dialogue on religious freedom in India.

Mayor Mamdani, however, stated that while he doesn't support the rally, he's uncertain if the city has the jurisdiction to cancel the private event.
