New parks bring green relief to Al Wakrah, Al Wukair

The Ministry of Municipality has opened three new parks in Al Wakrah and Al Wukair, providing residents with additional green spaces to enjoy. The parks, Al Mashmoum and Al Khuzama in Al Wakrah, and Al Arak in Al Wukair, were developed by the Ministry's Public Parks Department in collaboration with the Public Works Authority (Ashghal). These parks were designed to meet international standards and are intended to serve the community for years to come.

The projects align with the Ministry's 2024-2030 strategy and Qatar National Vision 2030, which aim to increase green spaces, enhance quality of life, and create sustainable, healthy environments for citizens and residents. Each park takes its name from the local environment, reflecting a commitment to preserving national identity and cultural heritage.

Mohammed bin Ali al-Athba, chairman of the Central Municipal Council, attended the opening of the new parks along with Abdullah Ahmed al-Karani, assistant undersecretary for public services affairs at the Ministry of Municipality, and other senior ministry officials and Ashghal representatives.

Al-Karani emphasized that the openings are part of the ministry's ongoing efforts to improve public services and facilities, as well as expand the development of parks and recreational areas. The parks were designed to cater to residents' needs, offering a mix of green spaces, recreational facilities, sports areas, and leisure options to encourage outdoor physical activity and healthier lifestyles.

The Public Parks Department director, Mohamed Ibrahim al-Sada, stated that the three projects are community neighborhood parks, equipped with a variety of amenities such as sports facilities, walking and running tracks, children's play areas, restrooms, and seating. Al Mashmoum Park spans 4,394 square meters, including a 2,396-square-meter agricultural and planted area, 68 trees, 927 square meters of pedestrian walkways, and a 204-meter running track.

Al Khuzama Park covers 3,284 square meters, featuring a 1,376-square-meter green space with 59 trees, 900 square meters of pedestrian walkways, an 178-meter running track, and a 276-square-meter children's play area. Lastly, Al Arak Park occupies 3,936 square meters, with 2,126 square meters of green spaces containing 56 trees, 844 square meters of pedestrian walkways, a 164-meter running track, and a 222-square-meter children's play area.

Both Al Khuzama and Al Arak parks also include 46-square-meter outdoor fitness areas equipped with modern exercise equipment, restrooms, and seating areas.
