New Padres Owners Make Bold Promise to Friars Fans

New San Diego Padres co-owners Jose E. Feliciano and Kwanza Jones pledged to bring the team its first World Series championship during a press conference on Monday. Feliciano declared, "We need to win the World Series. It's that simple. That's what we're going to do." The duo acquired the Padres in May, with the deal officially finalized on August 17 after receiving approval from Major League Baseball.

Speaking to reporters, the new owners indicated their intention to "spend ambitiously and judiciously," highlighting their commitment to investing in talent while remaining fiscally responsible. Feliciano emphasized that the team's success will depend on the support of their city, stating, "We're blessed with a team in a city that is supporting us in a way that allows us to invest back in that team, in that stadium, in that city."

He reiterated their dedication to the goal of winning while ensuring the long-term health of the franchise.

The Padres have participated in only two World Series (1984 and 1998), both of which ended in defeat for San Diego. However, Feliciano and Jones have assured Friar fans that they will do whatever it takes to lead the team to its first-ever title.
